Hydrotherapy in Darwin.
Physiotherapist-led. In the pool with you.
Physio-led hydrotherapy for children and adults
Warm water takes the weight off joints, makes movement easier and lets people work harder than they can on land - with a physio in the water beside them. Sessions run in pools across Darwin and Palmerston, one-on-one or in a small group of two, and every program is built around your goals.
Who hydrotherapy suits
Children with developmental delay, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism or coordination difficulties
Adults after stroke, brain injury or spinal cord injury, or living with MS or Parkinson’s
Older adults working on balance, strength, recovery after surgery or confidence after a fall
Anyone with arthritis, chronic pain or reduced mobility who finds land-based exercise hard
Where sessions run
We come to the pool that works for you:
Casuarina Aquatic and Leisure Centre
SWELL Palmerston
Parap Pool
Nightcliff Pool
Your own pool or your supported accommodation pool
Pool entry fees apply at public pools and are not included in your session fee.
What a session looks like
Your physio starts with an assessment, then builds a program around your goals:
45 minutes in the pool, one-on-one or in a small group of two
Your physio is in the water with you, every session
Exercises for strength, balance, walking, range of motion and confidence in water
A written program so you or your support worker can keep it going between sessions
Regular reviews so the plan keeps pace with your progress
Funding
Hydrotherapy can be funded through:
NDIS - self-managed, plan-managed or NDIA-managed
Support at Home or a home care package
Private payment or your health fund
Medicare care plan with a GP referral
Not sure what you’re eligible for? Call us on (08) 7918 0879 and we’ll talk it through.
Before your first session
A few things to sort out before you get in the water:
Some conditions need a GP clearance first - we’ll let you know if that applies to you
Bring bathers, a towel, a water bottle and any pool aids you already use
If you need help getting changed, bring a support person or let us know ahead of time
Tell us about any open wounds, infections or recent surgery before you book
Outreach
